Test your skills to see if you can build the ultimate raft! Be it the “Jolly Roger” or your own version of the “SS. Titanic”!

Raft building involves the design and manufacture of a makeshift raft with poles, barrels and ropes. Various teams compete in a build off then race each other to see who can keep their heads above water and not leave with that sinking feeling!

The key element to success is that all team members work together to achieve the same goal!

Raft Building is excellent fun for any group that wants to improve how they work together and, while primarily aimed at Teams, Raft Building is equally well suited to groups wanting to have fun and for personal development and learning.

Where can I try Raft Building?

Raft Building is mainly delivered from The Adventure Team base in Gortin, however we are mobile and can bring the experience to almost anywhere we can set sail! Some other popular areas are at Antrim Forum, Castlewellan Lake and Lough Neagh

What age do I have to be to try Raft Building?

Raft Building is suitable for all budding sailors aged 12 or over

How long does a Raft Building session last?

A standard Raft Building session with The Adventure Team lasts 2.5 hours and makes a great Grand Finale for a Team Building Day!

What equipment do I need for Raft Building?

We provide all specialist equipment including wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets and most importantly….the materials! – all that you need to provide is:

    • Swimwear for under the wetsuit

    • Towel

    • Sturdy footwear such as trainers or light boots (sandals and neoprene footwear are not appropriate)

    • A creative mind

    • The ability to work in a team!

    Will I be safe Raft Building?

    If you discover that your raft is an S.S. Titanic, The Adventure Team instructors are all on standby!

    The Adventure Team have over 15 years experience in the delivery of Raft Building. All of The Adventure Team instructors are trained and assessed in accordance with our Activity Guidelines detailed in our comprehensive Risk Assessment Policy. Our instructors are all qualified First Aiders and meet all of our Child Protection checks including ACCESS NI. We also hold a £5 million insurance policy.

    How much does it cost to go Raft Building with The Adventure Team?

    Raft Building costs £30 per person and we have a special youth rate of £20 per person. You can add another activity for only £10 per person. Discounts are available on open sessions, family days and members of The Adventure Club!
